PROCEEDINGS

Authors presenting contributions to the XI International Scanning Probe Microscopy Conference could submit their contributions to a special issue of  Ultramicroscopy. The deadline for the submission of the complete  Ms.  is the 1st of  September, however, the title,  author list   and an abstract of  no more than 150 words  should be submitted before the end of  the Conference. Guidelines for Proceedings papers XI International Scanning Probe Microscopy Conference

1) Papers must have a primary focus on techniques related to scanning probe microscopy.  The topics include instrumentation, sample preparation, image or data analysis, nanolithography,  nanomechanics, force spectroscopy, etc.  Papers which use SPM only peripherally  are not suitable.Equally papers devoted to sample characterization that do not add to SPM methodologies are not suitable.

2) Theory papers must either (1) explain experimental data, or (2) make readily testable predictions.  Papers that use a new formalism but produce no concrete new predictions or explanations are not suitable.

3) Papers will be pre-reviewed by a group appointed by the organizing committee, including representation from the journal publishing the proceedings to ensure that they meet these guidelines before being sent out for refereeing.

4) Conflicting referee reports will result in a final decision by the appropriate associate editor of Ultramicroscopy.
