Born in 1971, Antonio García-Martín graduated in Physics at the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (Spain) in 1996. He obtained his PhD degree in the Condensed Matter Physics Department in June 2000. His PhD Thesis "Theory of wave transport in complex systems: from ballistic transport to localization induced by rough surfaces" received the Outstanding PhD Thesis award.
After his post doc in the Institute of Condensed Matter Theory of Karlsruhe University (2001-2003), where he performed theoretical studies of the properties of defects in Photonic Crystals and Transport on Disordered Wires, he incorporated the Instituto de Microelectrónica de Madrid (IMM-CSIC) with a Ramón y Cajal contract. In 2005 he obtained a permanent position at the IMM-CSIC.
His current interests are focused on the optical response of active complex nanomaterials, particularly the magneto-optical control of the response of plasmonic systems (magneto-plasmonics), taking care of the theoretical aspects of the research line.
